Awaken: A Spring Yoga Day Retreat
Spring is a natural time of awakening. Of rebirth and growth. Where there is palpable energy and awakening in the world around us
“Awaken” is a yoga day retreat aligned with this energy.
Dearbhla and Nikki have planned Awaken to help get rid of any sluggishness left over from winter and to energise and reset your body and mind.
In addition to a day of yoga, this retreat will include a talk on Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga and is an ancient holistic system of medicine that focuses on balance between body, mind and spirit. We have asked Orna Canavan to join us to give this talk. She will discuss the Ayurvedic Doshas/constitutions and the benefits of a good daily routine when it comes to maintaining health and well-being.
Orna is an Ayurvedic practitioner based in Galway. She has studied Ayurveda in the UK, India, and Sri Lanka, and trained with respected teachers including Dr. Vasant Lad. After working with Pukka Herbs in the UK, she returned to Ireland in 2009 to establish her practice. Orna is passionate about sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda and supporting her clients to improve their health and wellbeing through simple, practical changes to diet, lifestyle, and mindset. She believes Ayurveda is especially relevant today as it can help to establish balance in our fast paced lives.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Ayurvedic Studies, a Diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine, a Certificate in Ayurvedic Massage, and an ITEC distinction in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage. Orna is a member of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association (APA).
We’ll begin the day with a breathwork and a warming vinyasa flow to move the body and breath, awakening strength, mobility and energy after the winter months. This practice will focus on forward bends and twists.
A mindful walk through the estate grounds follows, giving time to notice the subtle signs of spring and ground into nature’s rhythm of renewal.
There will be a light, healthy Indian lunch, of dahl and green salad, herbal teas and some sweet treats.
After lunch, we’ll have the talk on Ayurveda.
The day will close with a deeply restorative yin practice, allowing the body to soften into the season ahead.
Leave feeling refreshed, open, and ready to step into spring with clarity and ease.

I have put together this course as a way to share the practices I do that help me navigate the world.
Life can be busy and overwhelming. Our daily ‘to-do’ lists are never-ending. Feeling like there is not enough time in the day to do it all. It’s easy to put your wellbeing last. As something you should do, but don’t have time or know where to start.
This course is for you. This will be your start.
I do some or all of these practices every day. Without a doubt they help me immeasurably. To be a better woman, parent, wife, daughter, friend. They help me to be at more at ease in the world, to feel strong, grounded and happy.
Obviously, I have days where I am not all these things. But even on days that aren’t great, I am steady in my knowledge that this too will pass.
This course combines all my loves: strength training, breathwork, meditation and yoga.
Tuesday evenings will be a strength focused class. Lifting weights, ideally lifting as heavy as is appropriate for you.
Wednesday mornings will be a 20 minute meditation and breathwork class.
Friday will be a 30 minute vinyasa yoga practice.
All classes will be recorded and sent to you.
Date: January 13th - Feebruary 6th
Cost: €100
Included: 12 live sessions, with all recoprdings sent to you.
A pdf for the course, discussing the practices and some recipes and lifestyle chat.
